It wasn’t that long ago (ok, may a little over 20 years), that we too were taking our first steps into leadership roles. It’s not a smooth ride, and we’re yet to meet anyone who has said it’s easy. There were times we would come home feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. There’s been more than one occasion when we’ve poured a glass a wine, ran a bath and had a good cry after a difficult day. Even now as CEOs and Directors, those days of learning to lead are hard to forget.
There so many articles, books and courses on effective leadership, but not a lot addressing the real challenges of learning to lead, especially for first-time managers, and even less for women starting their leadership journey.
Learning to lead can be tough.
We know that you might be:
- Feeling like you’re not cut out for the job
- Feeling like you’re not being respected
- Lacking influence with your team
- Feeling lonley and unsupported
- Struggling to deal with underperforming employees or delivering bad news
It can be super challenging. If you’ve been promoted from within an organisation – you’re dealing with the shift from employee to manager, as well and dealing with how your colleagues might be responding to this change in the status quo. Or if you’re new to an organisation – you’re the new kid on the block want to make an impact.
Being a manager, isn’t just a title, it requires you to learn new skills and techniques, and that’s what we’re here to help you with. Developing your skills as a new leader will help you overcome your fears, engage with your team and be proactive and inspirational in your leadership. You will become a manager that people want to work for. You will be a leader that helps your team grow together and achieve great new things.
